Gratitude is something that we all know about, and I just want to talk about how I think it's awesome.
“If the only prayer you said was thank you, that would be enough.” ― Meister Eckhart
We sometimes tend to pray to ask for things that we don't have, and forget to say thanks for the things we do have, and it's nice to be reminded of it.
“Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all others.”― Marcus Tullius Cicero
I see that there is truth in what Cicero is saying, because when you are in a state of humble gratitude, you are likely to be kind. Kindness then breeds patience, forgiveness, and all other virtues.
“When you are grateful, fear disappears and abundance appears.” ― Anthony Robbins
"Thank you." - Such a simple phrase, and it takes quite a little time to say it. Yet, when we actually say this with our hearts, it seems as if the floodgates of positivity are opened, letting flow the overwhelming emotion of appreciation, which leads to love.
Appreciation feels good for both the appreciator and appreciated. It feels good to say thanks. It feels good to be thanked.
Gratitude is a Universal Language
Regardless of what nation you belong to, you know about gratitude. That's the beautiful thing about it: it transcends national boundaries. All nations have the same shared experience of that thing we call appreciation, gratitude, and thanking.
The Heart of Spirituality
People can sometimes associate spirituality with being able to meditate a lot, read a lot of scriptures, and participate in rituals. Those are all well and good and contribute to spiritual well-being.
Sometimes, though, I think that we forget the core of the consciousness that spirituality has, and is really simple - that of love.
In order for a person to have that core though, one has to have that attitude of gratitude. Then you will have everything.
Gratitude lifts the heart to the highest places.
A Note to People
To all the people who have shared a part of my life, thank you for the experience that I have shared with you.
To all who read this, I hope we can all remember the gratitude we give to others and how much a simple thank you can lift their hearts and our hearts to the highest places.
